So, I've made it through the first week. Not like that is hard in and of itself, it will be amazing when I make it through the homework though. It's not like there is too much, but there is a whole lot of reading. And the reading for my Genesis class is super boring. Other then having a lot of reading the homework is pretty easy. The Chuck Tracks are pretty simple. It is just really important that I don't get behind on them. I have to listen to one a day basically.
I have been having tons of fun though. I have met some really cool friends. I actually didn't even notice that last night was Young Adults because I was hanging out. The fellowship here is just as good as back home. I met Sarah, this girl from Scotland, who is a blast. Then there's people like Doug, Grace, Lydia, Will, Chris, Pricilla, Tahmi, Amanda (other Amanda), well , lots of cool people. Last night we went to cheap seats to see War of the Worlds with Pricilla, Grace, Sarah, Doug, Chris, Zach, and WIll. It was fun and we were out really late so it reminded me of back home after Young Adults. I think I got in bed around 2am.
I still want to find people to go rock climbing with...
Something that does surprise me, although it probably shouldn't, is all the guitarists. Everybody plays guitar. I don't have a problem with that, I just didn't expect the same amount of ego from musicians here as at UNM. But it's just as bad. Almost every guitarist just want's to talk about how many places they have "led worship" at and how many people were there. How many instruments they have played to "fill in (save the day)" at their church. Apparently if it weren't for them no one would ever be able to worship because they are so amazing. They aren't worship leaders! They don't even belong in front of a church. They should just be contemporary christian musicians. There shouldn't be space for that amount of pride in their heart if they are really worshippers. Essentially they are the "me monsters" of CCBC. At the same time there are real lead worshippers here, it just takes a lot longer to find them because they are humble. They are the ones who don't carry their guitar around campus. They are the ones who no one knows even plays unless they are asked. They are the ones who would rather let someone else play guitar so that they can focus everything on the Lord instead of having to be distracted by what chord comes next. They have prayed for humility. They are few and far between and it breaks my heart to see so few.
